Our Programs

About

At Maine Clean Communities, we connect people, partners, and projects to reduce petroleum use and advance clean transportation solutions across Maine. As part of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Clean Cities and Communities network, we support communities in transitioning to more sustainable, efficient, and equitable mobility options.

Our work spans a variety of programs and initiatives that help public agencies, businesses, and residents reduce emissions, save money, and improve access to cleaner transportation. Whether it's supporting electric vehicle adoption, planning smarter charging infrastructure, or decarbonizing marine transportation, we work to make clean transportation practical and possible across Maine.

Explore our core programs:

  • EV Lending Program – Helping municipalities and organizations test electric vehicles in real-world conditions before they buy.

  • Drive Electric Maine – A public outreach and education campaign promoting EV adoption through events, resources, and partnerships.

  • Marine Electrification – Supporting clean energy solutions for Maine’s working waterfronts and blue economy.

  • Charging Smart – Providing technical assistance and planning tools to expand equitable, reliable EV charging across Maine.

Together, these programs reflect our commitment to a cleaner, more resilient transportation future for all Maine communities.
