Calstart ZEV Ride and Drives
In October 2025, Maine Clean Communities, in partnership with CALSTART, hosted two Zero-Emission Truck Ride & Drive events to showcase the growing availability of medium- and heavy-duty electric vehicles and equipment. These events provided fleet managers, municipal officials, business leaders, and community members with an opportunity to experience zero-emission technologies firsthand, connect with industry experts, and learn about available funding opportunities for fleet electrification.

Sustainable Scarborough Day
October 5, 2025
As part of Sustainable Scarborough Day, attendees explored a variety of electric transportation technologies, including electric pick-up trucks, commercial vans, and marine equipment. The event highlighted how zero-emission technologies can support local businesses, municipalities, and marine industries while reducing fuel costs and emissions.

Maine Municipal Association Conference
October 8-9, 2025
Held in conjunction with the Maine Municipal Association Conference, this showcase featured zero-emission vehicles and equipment designed for public-sector applications, including municipal fleet vehicles, school buses, and other medium- and heavy-duty vehicles. The event provided local government officials and fleet managers with the opportunity to better understand the opportunities and considerations associated with fleet electrification.

Maine Ocean Farms
Marine Electrification
The Maine Ocean Farms electrification project worked to electrify marine vessels and deploy high-power marine charging infrastructure to reduce emissions and create a replicable model for future adoption. Maine Clean Communities worked together with Aqua SuperPower, Vita Power, and Maine Ocean Farms to identify appropriate electric propulsion power trains, a main work vessel, and build two shoreside marine fast charging stations.
Since its launch in July 2025, the 28-foot Heron has demonstrated the potential of electric propulsion on Maine's working waterfront. As one of the first electric workboats of its kind, it reduces both carbon emissions and noise pollution while illustrating the real-world feasibility of electrifying commercial marine vessels.

Northeast Renewable Diesel Working Group
The Northeast Renewable Diesel Working Group is a working group in New England that assesses the current and future demand for renewable diesel in heavy-duty on- and off-road applications, including agriculture, the ski industry and engage stakeholders to determine their fueling needs, capacity, training needs and cost effectiveness to transition to renewable diesel. The working group is a result of collaboration between several Clean Cities groups, primarily Vermont Clean Communities and Maine Clean Communities.

In response to stakeholder interest, Vermont Clean Communities and Maine Clean Communities hosted a series of renewable diesel webinars that brought together national fuel distributors, Clean Cities and Communities coalition directors, fleet managers, policy experts, state agencies, and other regional stakeholders. The webinars attracted new participants interested in renewable diesel deployment across New England and provided a forum to explore opportunities for decarbonization and emissions reductions in both on- and off-road diesel applications.
Visit our dedicated Renewable Diesel page to learn more about the basics of renewable diesel, its applications, how it's being used in the Northeast, and to watch our webinars.
